Q1. What is your top tips for choosing your makeup look?

Top tips for choosing makeup are definitely going to have to be making sure it is the right shades for the season you are having your wedding in. Each season there are trendy colors and shades that go best with your wedding attire. You want to make sure it matches your whole wedding theme and vibe that you are going for. There are so many options to choose from but try to stick to something along the same lines. Find out what your undertones are and which colors best match your skin tone. There are so many different shades and colors out there and they look different on everyone. Be sure and take the time to find the ones that best match you.

And the most important thing, make sure you LOVE it. The rules are there mostly for guidelines but if you find something you are in love with and it makes you feel confident and beautiful I say go for it!

Q2. I don't normally wear makeup, but I feel like I need to. Any suggestions?

Yes you are definitely going to want to wear makeup on your big day even if you don't normally wear a lot of makeup and the biggest reason is for your pictures. To allow the photographer to get the best photographs she is going to need great lighting, backgrounds, etc. The same goes with your makeup. If you are hiring a Makeup Professional, they can help you know what looks best for the lighting, your skin tone, the type of environment you will be having your wedding to help you look naturally beautiful on your special day.

Q3. Should I do a makeup trial run?

Yes you should most definitely do a trial run! That way you can find what works best for you and be able to see what you are capable of doing. A lot of looks are harder then they seem so it is important to try the look first to make sure you have all the right products as well as if you even like the look you had in mind.

Another aspect to remember is pictures and looks we see online are on someone else. It may look great on them but you may have a different skin undertone or facial structure that might make the look different then what you thought it might be.

If you are hiring a profession I would also definitely do a trial run too. That way you can tell your makeup artist what you like and don't like before the big day. You can show her pictures or even bring in products that you love to show her the look you are going for. Gives you and her a chance to find the perfect look. It also will help ease your stress knowing that you trust your MUA and that you love your look.

Q4. It is going to be windy and possibly stormy on my wedding day. I'm worried.

Yes, the weather is always a tricky one. I would suggest getting a great Setting Powder or Setting Spray to hold your makeup in place. These setting powders and spray not only mattify the look which is important for pictures but it also helps set the makeup and keep it all in place even if rain is involved. As for the wind i would apply a little more foundation to your cheeks so they don't turn too red.

Q5. It's going to be over 110 degrees and my wedding is outside. Help!

For heat I would also suggest investing in a good Setting Powder or Setting Spray as well. Due to the heat your body is going to want to sweat so this will help your pores from doing too much sweating and when the sweat comes it will help hold the makeup in place. I would also stay away from creamy products as they don't do well in the heat.

Q6. How much makeup should I wear?

That is a good question. I would say you are going to want to wear more makeup then normal because not only is it fun to get all dressed up, but again it will make a big difference in your pictures. I would also suggest in buying good quality makeup that you know is going to be long lasting. If anything I would definitely say to wear at least foundation, eyeshadow, mascara, do your eyebrows and some lipstick. If you don't wear makeup often it will feel like a lot but will make your whole outfit complete. Think of makeup as an accessory.

Q7. Should the bridesmaids match the bride?

I think this is a very personal choice. For me I feel like it would be a little much if everyone had the same makeup look. To me the bridesmaids are the ones who go for the more natural toned back look and the bride goes all out stealing the show. Some brides don't like the attention and don't mind matching more of the neutral look. So again it all depends on what makes the bride happy in my opinion.

Q8. I want to do my own makeup. Any suggestions?

If you are looking to do your own makeup I would definitely suggest browsing online for looks that inspire you. You could even watch some tutorials on how to achieve the look and get some helpful tips and tricks. I would also suggest that you have test the look out several times. That way you know and feel less stressed because you will have everything you need and you know you are going to love the way you look. I would also test the look outdoors in the heat or cold to see how it turns out so you can apply or change anything accordingly. You could even invite your bridesmaids over to see what they think and add suggestions or tips and tricks as well. Makes a fun get together.

Also, bring your makeup with you wherever you go! Have one of your bridesmaids hold it for you and bring it wherever you are. You never know when you are going to need a touch up or reapplication and it always nice to have it close and ready. Be sure and add a little compact mirror in there too!
