Q1. What should be considered when choosing a florist?

When choosing a florist, I think it is most important to find someone who shares your vibe and style for your big day. Social media and websites are amazing tools to be able to check out all their work. I know most brides are concerned with budget and want to stay in it which I completely understand. If you love the florists work and want to work with them, know that most florists can guide you in the right direction. Whether it’s more greenery or less expensive flowers but still making your decor amazing!!

Q2. What are things to consider when picking a bouquet?

When choosing a bouquet of course style is important. There are so many different styles now. There is anything from cascading to nosegay. We are in a time where literally anything goes. With Pinterest handy it’s so easy to get overwhelmed but a good florist can guide you in the right direction. It’s important to discuss, of course, time of year and knowing what is in season and available for your time of year. We live in an area that gets very warm out. So it’s always good to discuss what will survive heat especially in the June to October months. You don’t want a wilty bouquet walking down that aisle.

Q3. Are there different types / styles of bouquet options? If so what are they called? Can you provide a quick detail?

There are quite a few different types of bouquets I’ll just quickly touch upon the most popular bouquets. The first one definite being the most popular is the hand tied bouquet. Obviously hand tied meaning that the bouquet is tied together not using any types of structure. Most “bohemian” or loosely tied bouquets are hand tied. The next most popular would be the round bouquet. It is hand tied but definitely more structured bouquet in a ball-like style. It’s defintely a more classic look. The next would be a posey bouquet. Princess Kate and Meghan Markle carried posey bouquets. They are small sweet little bouquets. They are becoming more popular. The next one would be another bouuet becoming more and more popular. The cascade bouquet. This bouquet sometimes has to have a little help with structure using a handle. These bouquets have floral and greens cascading in front of the bride. Hope this helps everyone understand the different styles. If you don’t remember the names no worries at all. I personally love when my brides come armed with pictures and ideas. That’s always the best.

Q4. How long do flowers last?

A well hydrated bouquet should last a few days if in the right element. Of course we live in extreme temperate climate. Therefore flowers do not always last as long as we would like. If the flowers are in direct water of course they will last much longer than flowers in floral foam. When it is so hot outside flowers definitely need to stay cool. Different flowers are heartier than others. Roses are quite hearty, hydrangeas...not so much. I will not use hydrangeas after 85 degrees for outside weddings they just won’t last. Again, just work closely with your florist and they will be able to send you in the right direction. Definitely listen to them on this matter you don’t want wilty flowers down the aisle

Q5. What is your biggest tip for choosing a bouquet?

When choosing a bouquet it is definitely depending on the brides style and the theme of the wedding. Obviously what you love is most important.   So again a good florist will create what you love.

Q6. Traditionally, what other flowers are at a wedding other than the bouquet?

Most brides contact me for bridal party flowers. So bride, groom, maids, and guys. But of course expanding in the party would be flower girl, ring bearer, moms and Dads and Grandparents, even pets. Lots contact me for more than that. There are ceremony arches or structures, chair aisle pieces. There is the reception table centerpieces. Don’t forget the cake. Some brides just want the bridal party and that’s great. Some want flowers everywhere. So it really depends on how important the flowers are to your needs and budget.

Q7. Will the florist deliver the flowers the day of the wedding?

Yes we deliver, set up, and clean up for a fee. But yes most brides choose delivery at the very least. It’s nice to have the florist being the flowers. Brides pay a lot of money for them. It’s kind of like an insurance that the flowers will be at their best condition upon going down the aisle and in your tables for your reception.
